Welcome CaraDem!
The European Partnership for Democracy is glad to welcome CaraDem to our community.
CaraDem is an Irish-inspired, independent, not-for-profit organisation committed to encouraging inclusive governance based on collaboration, respect and trust.
Their story began when a group of Irish leaders came together to consider whether Ireland could play a role in supporting inclusive governance. Whether the island’s history, challenges and successes could offer an important perspective at a global level was explored, and international support for the initiative grew.Taking its name from the Irish word Cara, meaning ‘friend’, CaraDem aims to work with partners around the world to co-curate conditions where everyone, from citizens to government, works together in trust and accountability.
“The pace and scale of the global democracy backslide requires greater collaboration in democracy support, a plurality of voices in shaping our democratic future, and more inclusive ways of engaging citizens. CaraDem is committed to working with others to shift the dial, no matter how incremental, so that the benefits of democratic governance are rebuilt, sustained and strengthened. Becoming part of the European Partnership for Democracy is critical to our intention to act as a collaborative partner in all we do.“
