Democratic-by-Design: Integrating Democratic Participation into the Governance of European Technology Companies

This 6-month-long project will develop and test a methodology for embedding democratic principles, specifically the principle of participation, into the internal governance structures of European technology companies. In particular, it will aim at answering two main research questions:

  1. What organisational structures of companies are the most participatory based on ownership, purpose and control?
  2. How can these structures be incentivised at the EU level?

This will be done through desk research and expert interviews, and involves organising an input workshop and drafting a study about the topic.
