The Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy (DIPD) is a self-governing institution within the public administration, established by law in May 2010 with the aim of strengthening Danish democracy assistance, including support for the development of political parties and multiparty systems in developing countries. As defined by law, DIPD works to fulfil its purpose by supporting multiparty cooperation and the development of democratic parties in partner countries, as well as by supporting independent media, think tanks, and other non-governmental organisations in partner countries whose purpose is to promote the development of a democratic political culture and multiparty systems.

With this strategy, DIPD, together with the Danish political parties and partners in selected partner countries, will build on the experiences of the last 15 years,
as well as on internationally recognised approaches and methods, thereby
contributing to the renewal of democracy both abroad and at home.
