The main activities of the European Exchange are strengthening civil society and controlling state action. With a special focus on Eastern Europe and Ukraine, European Exchange is committed to the long-term networking of civilian actors across national borders. Through capacity building, political education and advocacy in the European institutions, European Exchange aim to strengthen the concerns of Europe’s civil society on a long-term basis.
European Exchange holds the secretariats of two international platforms for civil society cooperation: the European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE), an association of European civil society election observation organizations, and the KYIV DIALOGUE, an independent German-Ukrainian project association. Since 2019, the European Exchange furthermore implements the Initiative Quorum, which seeks to strengthen the participation of Russian-speaking citizens in Germany’s political processes.
