To mark the International Day of Democracy, we are pleased to invite you to our annual conference, hosted by President Antonio Tajani at the European Parliament in Brussels, which will take place on Wednesday, 27 September 2017.

The Thematic focus of this year will be on the state of democracy in Europe and beyond; we will reflect on current trends and challenges, look at how to “bring the demos back into democracy” and examine the media aspect through the value of free speech.

Please also join us in the evening for a cultural event organised at BOZAR to celebrate diversity, democracy and universal values with a keynote speech by Herman Van Rompuy followed by the Arab Puppet Theatre’s “Performance Desperately in Need of an Audience.”

The conference is co-organised by the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), the European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP), the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) and the Office of International IDEA to the European Union, with the cooperation of the European Commission and the European External Action Service.

A detailed programme can be found here. Please register via this link.
