In an article published on openDemocracy, Sergio Rodriguez Prieto – EPD’s Policy and Programmes advisor – looks at the democratic transition process taking place in Myanmar. Indeed, the National League for Democracy and Aung San Suu Kyi are facing growing criticism, which has to be attributed to a static institutional framework and to the long-standing ethnic fragmentation of the population.

The article is published in association with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, which is seeking to contribute to public knowledge about effective democracy-strengthening by leading a discussion on openDemocracy about what approaches work best.
