EPD’s Programmes Coordinator, Anna Zangrossi, and Methodology Expert, Sergio Rodriguez Prieto, travelled to Myanmar to meet with project leaders People In Need and local partners Loka Ahlinn to mark an important step towards the opening of the Creating a Space for the Participation of Myanmar’s Civil Society in Policy Dialogue programme, funded by the European Union.
This programme aims at mobilising local civil society in Myanmar and enhancing its participation in formulation and implementation of public policies and programmes. The main activities include technical assistance, capacity-building, advocacy and policy monitoring and are addressed to CSOs, local networks, local authorities, regional and national media, regional and state parliaments and business associations.
On 31 March and 1 April, EPD, People In Need and Loka Ahlinn organised a Partnership workshop and a Stakeholders meeting with representatives of local Civil Society Organisations and other international actors active in Mon, Kayin, Shan states and Mandalay region. The participants had the opportunity to exchange on priorities and identify needs and challenges to address within the framework of the programme.
From 3 to 7 April, a workshop on the INSPIRED methodology took place. It served as a mean to inform People in Need and Loka Ahlinn’s officers about the INSPIRED methodology and represented a chance for local stakeholders to familiarise themselves with the goals of the programme and with EPD’s operating model.
