On 11 June, EPD’s largest project, Programme d’Appui à la Société Civile (PASC-Tunisie) held its annual conference in Tunis. The conference brought together members of the National Assembly, high level officials, representatives of civil society, universities and international organisations from Tunisia, Germany, France and Turkey in order to discuss the prerequisites for a successful decentralisation process that reinforces social cohesion in the context of local development.

Numerous participants, among others former Prime Minister of Spain, Mr José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, provided input on the need to take time and have patience considering the wide-ranging implications decentralisation will bring.

The Director of PASC, Mr Imed Abdeljaoued, the Director of CFAD, Mr Adel Ben Yakhlef and the Director of the École Nationale d’Administration, Mr Maher Sellami attended the event. EPD was represented by its Executive Director, Ken Godfrey and Head of Policy, Sebastian Bloching.

EPD would like to thank the whole PASC team for having organised the event, and all participants for having contributed to a fruitful and successful conference.
