The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) and the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) presented a Guidebook synthesising the key components of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement at a special event on November 7, 2014.
The Guidebook, which aims at improving knowledge and awareness about EU-Georgia relations and the Association Agreement in particular, summarizes the 1000+ page agreement into 65 pages, and covers all key components. It also contains brief chapters on the history of EU-Georgia relations, key EU institutions and a section to address myths and misconceptions on the EU scattered in the Georgian society.
Separate chapters are devoted to the following themes: Eastern Partnership, Preparation Process, Political Dialogue, Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, Economic Cooperation, Financial Support and Association Agenda.
Government representatives, international and domestic organisations, political parties, local government, media and students attended the presentation event.
NIMD and EPD will use the Guidebook to support on-going advocacy campaigns in different regions, as well as in support of Democracy Schools in Gori, Telavi, Kutaisi and Batumi. The printed version of the Guidebook will also be made available to interested organisations.
The authors of the Guidebook are Mikheil Mirziashvili and Ivane Chkhikvadze.
