This report is part of the 3-year project “Promotion of the Rights of Trafficked Persons in Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia with Emphasis on Legal Support – A Human Rights-Based Approach”. The project was carried out by the Netherlands Helsinki Committee together with Animus in Bulgaria, Adpare and Pro Refugiu in Romania and the Human Rights League (HRL) in Slovakia. The report provides a summary of the three national reports which were written in the first year of the project and which discussed the position of trafficked persons in criminal and other relevant proceedings, the protection of their rights and their treatment by the judicial system. It also includes the outcomes of a year-long monitoring of court cases, carried out by the partner organisations.
