EPD is pleased to announce a conference ‘Commemorating Václav Havel in Today’s World’ held under the auspices of H.E. Martin Schulz and H.E. Martin Povejšil on 6th November (10am to 12:30pm) at the European Parliament (Room: ASP A5E-2).

The event is jointly organized by European Partnership for Democracy, Vaclav Havel LibraryCzech Centre Brussels, and the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU.

Václav Havel was one of the central personalities of the world events of the second half of the 20th century. As a philosopher, artist, president and a committed supporter of human rights and democratic values his work has been inspirational for a generation of activists, politicians, intellectuals and artists around the world.

At a time when so many populations are trying to transform their political regimes towards democracy and need return of experience, this event will commemorate the legacy of this great Czech personality while at the same time highlighting practical aspects for why his work is relevant today in the EU neighbourhood.
